- THE WINDOW BUTTONS:
- The 2 buttons on the right side of the window
- scroll up or down the list of files available on your
- disk. The upper left button is the REVERT button and will
- display all the files as they appear on your boot disk.
- There is another button in the upper right corner of the
- AUTO & ACC windows. With it you can choose to display
- files by name or as they appear on your disk. The REVERT
- button for the 'other files' window is the info box.

- The "COLOR" button will be available only on a color monitor
- You will be able to select 8 different color displays. This
- setting is saved in the preference files.
-
- The INFO menu:
- CREDITS: will give you information about the program.
- SYSTEM: will give you information on your system and the
- current setup.
- HELP: will bring up this text!!!
- MEMO will call the Memo editor. You can load, save or clear
- the memo. The Memo is 'intelligent', if it contains
- something and you have selected the show memo option in
- your preferences, it will pop up every time you bootup.

- The FILE menu:
- ITEM SELECTOR gives you the option to rename or delete a
- a file anywhere on your disks.
- REORDER AUTO enables you to reorder programs in your auto
- folder. Just follow the instructions in the info box.
- REVERT ALL will revert all files in every window.

- The PRESETS menu:
- MAKE: after selecting all the files you need to create a
- preset, select this button and follow instructions in the
- info box. After clicking on the preset you want to make
- STart-it will ask you if you want to choose a program to
- auto-launch with that preset.
- SAVE: press this button to save your preset to disk.
- STart-it will ask you in which bank you want to save your
- presets. You can choose any of the 4 banks available.
- CLEAN: will clean every preset of any file not present on
- your disk at this time.
- ERASE: erase a preset. The name of the preset will be
- replaced by the word EMPTY.
- INCLUDE: include a selected file in every preset.
- EXTRACT: extract a selected file in every preset.
- AUTORUN PRG: select a program for auto-launching using one
- of the 3 methods available in STart-it.
- SELECT: bring up the preset selector screen. Press the
- preset button you want to instantly run that preset.

- The CONFIGURE menu:
- CONFIGURE START-IT: calls the main configuration screen.
- CONFIGURE FILES1, 2, 3 & 4: Calls the file selector to
- select the path where you want these files to be written.
- SAVE PREFERENCES: will save your preference to disk. This
- is the same function as the SAVE button in the CONFIGURE
- START-IT screen.

- The "CONFIGURE FILES x" file selector:
- enables you to select a path where you want these files to
- be written. A file selector will appear. In the lower part
- of the file selector you'll see the actual path for that
- file. At the left is a window showing you the
- directory of actual path and at the right a series of
- buttons to select any available drives in your system.
- There is also a SELECTION box containing the destination
- file name. The file selector works just like the GEM file
- file selector. You can enter the name manually or select it
- with the mouse. Press CANCEL if you want to keep the path,
- press DISABLE to make FILE TYPEx disabled, press ok if you
- have choosen a new path.

- - AUTORUN PRG: You can select a program to
- autorun. If you have TOS 1.4 or higher the name of the
- program will be placed in the NEWDESK.INF when exiting
- STart-it. If you have an older version of TOS, Start-it
- will write a file called STARTGEM.INF so you can autorun
- a GEM program with STARTGEM.PRG. StartGem has to be
- present in your AUTO folder if you want this to work.
- You can also use HEAD START for auto-launching GEM
- programs. STart-it will detect the presence of STARTGEM or
- HEADSTART in your auto folder to know which one you use...
- You have 3 choices when you select an AutoRun program:
- 1- Select a program to Auto-Run.
- 2- Select the DISABLE button and no program will be
- auto-started.
- 3- Press the 'Esc' key to clear the selection box, this
- will select the DEFAULT AUTORUN program.
- If you select DISABLE for a given preset and you start the
- boot procedure with that preset, STart-it will remove ANY
- AutoRun program it might find in the desktop info file
- that will be copied!!! It will also erase the STARTGEM.INF
- and HEADSTRT.DAT file and disable STARTGEM and
- HEADSTRT program in your auto folder.

- - "REORDER AUTO FOLDER PRG": You can reorder programs in
- your auto folder. Press this button and select the program
- you want to move, then select where you want this program
- to go. STart-it will ask you if you want to reorder your
- program. If you decide to do so, STart-it will ask you
- if you want to put the program to move before or after the
- target file.

- You can set the correct time and date if you don't have an
- internal clock. Just press the time display button or the
- date display button.

- At the bottom of the screen there are 8 buttons:
- - START: will start the boot procedure with the setup
- that is currently displayed.
- - CANCEL: will bootup with the current settings
- on your boot disk.
- - MONO: will bootup with the preset #1 and is also the
- default preset for monochrome if you exceed the time
- limit (the time limit is WAIT TIME in the configuration
- screen. It is the time the program will wait before
- booting up if you don't touch the mouse). If you press
- the SPACE BAR this preset will also be used as default
- in monochrome.
- - COLOR M: is the default preset for color monitor. It
- works the same way as the MONO button.
- - COLOR L: will choose preset #3.
- - NOTHING: will bootup the computer without any auto
- programs or accessories. Useful when you want all the
- available memory your computer can offer.
- - NO ACC: bootup without any accessories.
- - NO AUTO: bootup without any auto programs.

- The PRESET window:
- *** You can view a preset by clicking on it.***
- The upper left button in the PRESET window will show you
- a screen with all the 49 presets available. You can click
- on any button to choose a preset to run. If you click
- on CANCEL you will be returned to the main screen.
- The 2 right buttons will scroll the list of all available
- presets. There is 49 presets available in STart-it!!!
- The first 20 presets can be selected with the f-keys. To
- select one of the first 10 presets just hit the
- corresponding F-Key. To select preset 11 to 20 press
- SHIFT and the corresponding F-Key. Each preset name has a
- number to its right corresponding to its assigned F-Key.
- There are 2 buttons (LOAD & SAVE) under the preset window.
- You can load or save 4 presets banks for a total of 196
- presets available.

- The "STart-it CONFIGURATION screen":
- - "FORCE TIME & DATE INPUT": Will enable you to force the
- time and date input when you bootup your computer.
- - "Hotkey(s) SKIP/START": This function serves as a flag
- to tell STart-it to run or not if certain HOTKEYS
- are pressed when you boot your computer. When you select
- the "Caps" key you only have to press it once as soon
- as you can.
- - "WAIT TIME": This is the amount of time that STart-it will
- wait before booting with the default preset if you don't
- touch the mouse. You can set it to INFINITE if you don't
- want the program to AUTO BOOT.
- - "SHOW PRESET SCREEN": You can make STart-it show the
- preset screen every time you turn on your computer.
- - "ACCESSORIES LIMIT": Enables you to set a maximum
- number of accessories you can select since MULTITOS
- enables you to run more than 6 accessories.
- - "SHOW MEMO": You can choose to display the MEMO screen
- automatically with this.
- - "SHOW PICTURE": You can display a welcome picture when
- you start your computer. Start-it can display pictures
- in PI1, PI2, PI3, PC1, PC2, PC3 and NEO formats. Just put
- the pictures you want in the path you have selected.
- - "ORDER": You can choose to display your picture in 2 ways.
- If you select RANDOM, pictures will be showed randomly.
- If you select ORDER,pictures will be showed sequentially.
- - "SCREEN PATH": You can select any path you want when
- STart-it searches for a picture to display.Just press the
- button and a file selector will appear. Select the drive
- and path you want and press OK. The path selected will be
- displayed in the button below the SHOW WELCOME SCREEN
- button. If you are in the file selector and wish to keep
- the actual path press the CANCEL button.
- - "PLAY SAMPLE WITH PICTURE": will play a sample with the
- welcome picture if you have chosen this option. STart-it
- will first try to find a sample with the same name as the
- picture to be displayed.

- - "SAMPLE PATH": works the same way as the SCREEN PATH
- button.The sample must have the extension .SMx where x is
- the speed (0 to 5)at which the sample will be played. You
- can play samples in AVR format. The samples can be as big
- 50k, bigger samples will be ignored by the program.
- - "ACCESSORIES PATH": If you use a program that enables you
- to put your accessories in a folder this function must be
- set to that specific path or STart-it will not be able to
- locate your accessories.
- - "SWITCH SCREEN DISPLAY TO xxHZ": This function selects
- the screen display to be 50Hz or 60Hz. Useful if you want
- to run European programs. This setting will not be saved
- with your STart-it preference. **** If you have switched
- the screen display to 50Hz and you want to get it back to
- 60 when you are on the desktop just use the SWTCH_HZ.PRG
- to change it.****
- - "SHOW EXIT SCREEN": Enable or disable exit screen.
- - "SELECT DEFAULT AUTORUN PROGRAM": The default AutoRun
- program is the one that will be selected if you press the
- START button and no AutoRun program has been selected
- by choosing a preset to display.
- - "MORE": Will bring up the "MORE OPTIONS" screen. You can
- choose to sort auto programs and accessories. You can also
- set STart-it to display write protected files in your auto
- folder. These files will be displayed as bold characters.
- - "OK": will exit the configuration screen without saving
- your preference to disk.
- - RELOAD: will reload the preference file if you have made
- any changes and you've changed your mind.
- - "SAVE:" will save your preference settings to disk.

- - THE KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS:
- - [T] : Set time.
- - [D] : Set date.
- - [I] : Info.
- - [S] : Select AutoRun program.
- - [1] : Configure files1.
- - [2] : Configure files2.
- - [3] : Configure files3.
- - [4] : Configure files4.
- - [P] : Show the preset screen.
- - [Esc] : Same as the CANCEL button.
- - [Undo]: Same as the REVERT button.
- - [Help]: Call On Line help...
- - [C] : Call the configure STart-it screen.
- - F1 to F10: Select preset #1 to #10.
- - SHIFT F1 to F10: Select preset #11 to #20.
- - [Space Bar]: Select default preset.
- - [M] : Call the Memo.
- - [R] : Reorder Auto folder programs.
