  3. THE WINDOW BUTTONS:                                         
  4.   The   2  buttons  on  the   right  side   of  the   window
  5.   scroll up  or down the  list of  files  available  on your
  6.   disk.  The upper left button is the REVERT button and will
  7.   display  all the files  as they appear  on your boot disk.
  8.   There is another  button in the upper right  corner of the
  9.   AUTO  & ACC  windows.  With it you can  choose  to display
  10.   files  by name or as they appear on your disk.  The REVERT
  11.   button  for  the  'other files'  window  is  the info box.
  12.                                                             
  13. The "COLOR" button will be available only on a color monitor
  14.  You will be able to select 8 different color displays. This
  15.  setting is saved in the preference files.                  
  16.                                                             
  17. The INFO menu:                                              
  18.  CREDITS:  will  give  you  information  about  the program.
  19.  SYSTEM:  will  give you  information on your system and the
  20.   current setup.                                            
  21.  HELP: will bring up this text!!!                           
  22.  MEMO will call the Memo editor. You can load, save or clear
  23.   the memo.   The  Memo  is 'intelligent',  if  it  contains
  24.   something  and you have  selected the show memo option  in
  25.   your preferences,  it will  pop up every time  you bootup.
  26.                                                             
  27. The FILE menu:                                              
  28.  ITEM SELECTOR  gives you  the option to rename  or delete a
  29.   a file anywhere on your disks.                            
  30.  REORDER AUTO  enables you  to reorder programs in your auto
  31.   folder.  Just  follow  the  instructions  in the info box.
  32.  REVERT ALL will revert all files in every window.          
  33.                                                             
  34. The PRESETS menu:                                           
  35.  MAKE:  after selecting  all the files you need  to create a
  36.   preset,  select this button and follow instructions in the
  37.   info box.  After clicking on  the preset you  want to make
  38.   STart-it  will ask you  if you want to choose a program to
  39.   auto-launch with that preset.                             
  40.  SAVE: press this button to save your preset to disk.       
  41.   STart-it  will ask you in which bank you want to save your
  42.   presets.  You  can choose  any of  the 4 banks  available.
  43.  CLEAN:  will clean every preset  of any file not present on
  44.   your disk at this time.                                   
  45.  ERASE:  erase  a  preset.  The  name  of the preset will be
  46.   replaced by the word EMPTY.                               
  47.  INCLUDE: include a selected file in every preset.          
  48.  EXTRACT: extract a selected file in every preset.          
  49.  AUTORUN PRG:  select a program for auto-launching using one
  50.                of the 3 methods available in STart-it.      
  51.  SELECT:  bring  up  the preset  selector screen.  Press the
  52.   preset  button  you  want  to  instantly  run that preset.
  53.                                                             
  54. The CONFIGURE menu:                                         
  55.  CONFIGURE START-IT:  calls  the  main configuration screen.
  56.  CONFIGURE FILES1, 2, 3 & 4:  Calls  the  file  selector  to
  57.   select the path  where you want these files to be written.
  58.  SAVE PREFERENCES:  will save your preference to disk.  This
  59.   is the same function  as the SAVE button in the  CONFIGURE
  60.   START-IT screen.                                          
  61.                                                             
  62. The "CONFIGURE FILES x" file selector:                      
  63.  enables you to  select a path where you want these files to
  64.  be written. A file selector will appear.  In the lower part
  65.  of the  file selector  you'll see the actual path  for that
  66.  file.    At  the  left  is  a   window   showing  you   the
  67.  directory of actual  path  and  at the right a series  of  
  68.  buttons to select  any  available drives in your  system.  
  69.  There is also a SELECTION box containing the destination   
  70.  file name. The file selector works just like the  GEM  file
  71.  file selector. You can enter the name manually or select it
  72.  with the mouse. Press CANCEL if you want to keep the  path,
  73.  press DISABLE to make FILE TYPEx disabled,  press ok if you
  74.  have choosen a new path.                                   
  75.                                                             
  76. - AUTORUN PRG:              You  can  select  a  program  to
  77.   autorun.  If you have  TOS 1.4  or higher  the name of the
  78.   program  will be placed  in the  NEWDESK.INF  when exiting
  79.   STart-it.  If you have an  older version of TOS,  Start-it
  80.   will write a file called  STARTGEM.INF  so you can autorun
  81.   a GEM  program  with  STARTGEM.PRG.  StartGem  has  to  be
  82.   present  in  your  AUTO  folder  if you want this to work.
  83.   You  can  also   use  HEAD START  for  auto-launching  GEM
  84.   programs. STart-it will detect the presence of STARTGEM or
  85.   HEADSTART in your auto folder to know which one you use...
  86.   You have  3 choices when  you select an  AutoRun  program:
  87.   1- Select a program to Auto-Run.                          
  88.   2- Select the DISABLE button and no program will be       
  89.       auto-started.                                         
  90.   3- Press the 'Esc' key to clear the selection box, this   
  91.      will select the DEFAULT AUTORUN program.               
  92.   If you select DISABLE for a given preset and you start the
  93.   boot procedure with that preset,  STart-it will remove ANY
  94.   AutoRun  program it  might find  in the desktop  info file
  95.   that will be copied!!! It will also erase the STARTGEM.INF
  96.   and   HEADSTRT.DAT  file  and  disable STARTGEM and       
  97.   HEADSTRT program in your auto folder.                     
  98.                                                             
  99. - "REORDER AUTO FOLDER PRG":     You can reorder programs in
  100.   your auto folder. Press this button and select the program
  101.   you want to move,  then select where you want this program
  102.   to go.  STart-it will ask you if you want to  reorder your
  103.   program.  If you  decide to do so,  STart-it will  ask you
  104.   if you want to put the program to move before or after the
  105.   target file.                                              
  106.                                                             
  107. You can set  the correct time and date if  you don't have an
  108.  internal clock.  Just press the time  display button or the
  109.  date display button.                                       
  110.                                                             
  111. At the bottom of the screen there are 8 buttons:            
  112.  - START: will start the boot procedure with the  setup     
  113.    that is currently displayed.                             
  114.  - CANCEL:  will bootup with the current settings           
  115.    on your boot disk.                                       
  116.  - MONO:  will  bootup with the  preset #1  and is  also the
  117.    default  preset  for monochrome  if  you exceed  the time
  118.    limit  (the time limit is  WAIT TIME in the configuration
  119.    screen.  It  is the  time the  program  will wait  before
  120.    booting  up if you don't  touch the mouse).  If you press
  121.    the  SPACE BAR  this preset will  also be used as default
  122.    in monochrome.                                           
  123.  - COLOR M: is the default preset for color monitor. It     
  124.    works the same way as the MONO button.                   
  125.  - COLOR L: will choose preset #3.                          
  126.  - NOTHING:  will  bootup  the  computer  without  any  auto
  127.     programs  or accessories.  Useful when you  want all the
  128.     available memory your computer can offer.               
  129.  - NO ACC: bootup without any accessories.                  
  130.  - NO AUTO: bootup without any auto programs.               
  131.                                                             
  132. The PRESET window:                                          
  133.   *** You can view a preset by clicking on it.***           
  134.  The upper  left button in  the PRESET window  will show you
  135.   a screen with all the 49 presets available.  You can click
  136.   on any  button to  choose a  preset to run.  If you  click
  137.   on  CANCEL  you  will  be  returned  to the  main  screen.
  138.  The  2 right buttons will scroll the list  of all available
  139.   presets.  There  is  49 presets  available  in STart-it!!!
  140.   The first  20 presets can be selected with  the f-keys. To
  141.   select   one  of  the   first  10  presets  just  hit  the
  142.   corresponding  F-Key.   To  select  preset 11 to 20  press
  143.   SHIFT and the corresponding F-Key.  Each preset name has a
  144.   number  to its right corresponding  to its assigned F-Key.
  145.  There are 2 buttons  (LOAD & SAVE) under the preset window.
  146.   You can  load or  save 4 presets  banks for a total of 196
  147.   presets available.                                        
  148.                                                             
  149. The "STart-it CONFIGURATION screen":                        
  150. - "FORCE TIME & DATE INPUT":    Will enable you to force the
  151.    time  and  date  input  when  you  bootup  your computer.
  152. - "Hotkey(s) SKIP/START":     This function serves as a flag
  153.    to  tell  STart-it  to  run  or  not  if  certain HOTKEYS
  154.    are pressed when you boot your computer.  When you select
  155.    the  "Caps"  key you  only have to  press it once as soon
  156.    as you can.                                              
  157. - "WAIT TIME": This is the amount of time that STart-it will
  158.    wait before booting with the default preset  if you don't
  159.    touch the mouse.  You can set it to INFINITE if you don't
  160.    want the program to AUTO BOOT.                           
  161. - "SHOW PRESET SCREEN":       You can make STart-it show the
  162.    preset  screen  every  time  you  turn  on your computer.
  163. - "ACCESSORIES LIMIT":          Enables you to set a maximum
  164.    number  of  accessories  you  can  select  since MULTITOS
  165.    enables you to run more than 6 accessories.              
  166. - "SHOW MEMO":     You can choose to display the MEMO screen
  167.    automatically with this.                                 
  168. - "SHOW PICTURE":     You can display a welcome picture when
  169.    you start  your computer.  Start-it can display  pictures
  170.    in PI1, PI2, PI3, PC1, PC2, PC3 and NEO formats. Just put
  171.    the  pictures  you want in  the path  you have  selected.
  172. - "ORDER": You can choose to display your picture in 2 ways.
  173.    If you select RANDOM,  pictures will  be showed randomly.
  174.    If you select ORDER,pictures will be showed sequentially.
  175. - "SCREEN PATH":       You can select any path you want when
  176.    STart-it searches for a picture to display.Just press the
  177.    button and a file selector will appear.  Select the drive
  178.    and path you want and press OK. The path selected will be
  179.    displayed  in the  button below  the  SHOW WELCOME SCREEN
  180.    button.  If you are in the file selector and wish to keep
  181.    the actual path press the CANCEL button.                 
  182. - "PLAY SAMPLE WITH PICTURE":    will play a sample with the
  183.    welcome picture if you have chosen this option.  STart-it
  184.    will first try to find a sample with the same name as the
  185.    picture to be displayed.                                 
  186.                                                             
  187. - "SAMPLE PATH":       works the same way as the SCREEN PATH
  188.    button.The sample must have the extension .SMx where x is
  189.    the speed (0 to 5)at which the sample will be played. You
  190.    can play samples in AVR format. The samples can be as big
  191.    50k,  bigger  samples  will  be  ignored  by the program.
  192. - "ACCESSORIES PATH":  If you use a program that enables you
  193.    to put your accessories in a folder this function must be
  194.    set to that specific path or STart-it will not be able to
  195.    locate your accessories.                                 
  196. - "SWITCH SCREEN DISPLAY TO xxHZ":     This function selects
  197.    the screen display to be 50Hz or 60Hz. Useful if you want
  198.    to run European programs.  This setting will not be saved
  199.    with your STart-it preference.  **** If you have switched
  200.    the screen display to 50Hz and you want to get it back to
  201.    60 when you are on the desktop just use the  SWTCH_HZ.PRG
  202.    to change it.****                                        
  203. - "SHOW EXIT SCREEN":         Enable or disable exit screen.
  204. - "SELECT DEFAULT AUTORUN PROGRAM":      The default AutoRun
  205.    program is the one that will be selected if you press the
  206.    START  button  and no AutoRun  program has  been selected
  207.    by choosing a preset to display.                         
  208. - "MORE": Will bring up the "MORE OPTIONS" screen.   You can
  209.   choose to sort auto programs and accessories. You can also
  210.   set STart-it to display write protected files in your auto
  211.   folder.  These files will be displayed as bold characters.
  212. - "OK":    will exit the configuration screen without saving
  213.     your preference to disk.                                
  214. - RELOAD:   will reload the preference file if you have made
  215.    any changes and you've changed your mind.                
  216. - "SAVE:" will save your preference settings to disk.       
  217.                                                             
  218. - THE KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS:                                   
  219.     - [T] : Set time.                                       
  220.     - [D] : Set date.                                       
  221.     - [I] : Info.                                           
  222.     - [S] : Select AutoRun program.                         
  223.     - [1] : Configure files1.                               
  224.     - [2] : Configure files2.                               
  225.     - [3] : Configure files3.                               
  226.     - [4] : Configure files4.                               
  227.     - [P] : Show the preset screen.                         
  228.     - [Esc] : Same as the CANCEL button.                    
  229.     - [Undo]: Same as the REVERT button.                    
  230.     - [Help]: Call On Line help...                          
  231.     - [C] : Call the configure STart-it screen.             
  232.     - F1 to F10: Select preset #1 to #10.                   
  233.     - SHIFT F1 to F10: Select preset #11 to #20.            
  234.     - [Space Bar]: Select default preset.                   
  235.     - [M] : Call the Memo.                                  
  236.     - [R] : Reorder Auto folder programs.
